Visiting the Marae

Here we are being taught a dance that has actions.
                                                         Eating our Morning tea.
Tracing around stencils to create designs

We had a wonderful trip to the Marae. We were warmly welcomed and were given the opportunity to introduce ourselves and to closely look around the Meeting House. It was a memorable trip.

Dots and Boxes

Last Friday our challenge was to learn a new game.We were given a piece of paper with dots on in a grid formation. We took turns to draw a line. If on your turn, your line completed the box - you wrote your name in the box and had another turn. We had to think carefully about where we draw our line.
We learned about having a strategy.

Friday Challenge - paper planes

Mrs Dijkstra picked up a Smiggles Paper Plane Kit for $2 at the op shop. Our challenge was to construct a plane and decorate it. We tried flying them, but as we launched them into the wind, some of the planes landed in a tree. Whilst not altogether successful, there were lessons for the learning.
Mrs Dijkstra hopes that they fly better at home!

Self Portraits and Family Shields

Here we are having a photo shoot against the brick wall outside our room. It was a little tricky as the sun was shinning in our eyes. These are our self portraits with our holiday glasses on and our family shields where we illustrated - foods we like, members of our family, things we like to do as a family and lastly our favourite movie. Our classroom is going to look so colourful and wonderful when all of these are displayed in our room.

Fergal Is Fuming

Miss Sami read us the book "Fergal is Fuming" It is about a dragon who gets angry. He has to learn ways to calm himself down. He could count to ten, he could talk to a friend, he could watch the sunset, he could stretch, he could whizz about. In the end he uses his fire for good!

Alvin and Indiana suggested the following ways to cool ourselves down:
have a think, talk to a friend, have a drink, read a book, have a rest or play a quiet game.
What helpful advice!!!

Friday Challenge - working with ice.

On Friday Mrs Dijkstra gave us a challenge. We were given a cup of frozen water that had a key in it. Our challenge was to bring the key to Mrs Dijkstra and to complete the sentence " This is the key to......" Most of Room 24 smashed the ice by dropping it on the ground but some melted it using water from the tap. It was COOL!
