Paper Shoes

At this week's Friday Challenge Miss H read a new home reader "Mum's Shoes" In the book Mum ends up making a shoe out of paper. So we decided we would try to also. Mrs Dijkstra got some advertising fliers given to her so we used those together with masking tape, pipe cleaners and some squares of coloured paper. It was a great problem solving activity. Some children used their school shoes as an outline to  get some shape and size. We made a wide variety of styles and shapes- from boots, to slip ons to toe peepers. Miss H and Mrs Dijkstra loved our creativity, imagination and problem solving. Wonderful self belief Room 24!

Spaghetti and Marshmallow Structures

Our Friday challenge this week was to work with a buddy to make a cube and pyramid using marshmallows and spaghetti noodles. The idea was to create a stable structure. Next time we hope to have more marshmallows so that we can design and build taller and bigger structures whilst keeping them stable.

Publishing completed

Anzac Art with Mrs Smith. Poppy prints, printed onto the lyrics of the National Anthem.
Our Anzac display in our room reminds us to remember .
Our Marae Recounts surrounded by designs using mostly Koru patterns.
Dia's recount was so detailed that the font needed to be teeny tiny to fit the story on the page.
Here is Charlie's Scream Art which accompanies his story about things he is scared of.
We used a straw to blow the paint across the page. It made some children feel a little dizzy.
